Project Description

Habitações Colaborativas

The project includes the implementation of 14 housing units with a central support building. This main building brings together social services and support to the houses arranged by the land in an orthogonal grid. The houses of typology T1 (3) and T2 (11) are interconnected by walkways with the same framed structure of the main building in order to allow for a formal coherence of the whole. The T1 dwellings will have a maximum of two users and the T2 of four users simultaneously for a total of 50 people.

Within the main building, the program is divided into three nuclei and consists of the reception, administrative area, secretariat, room for technicians, a meeting room, a small technical area, storage, male and female sanitary facilities that respond to the limited mobility for users. In the second nucleus there is an auditorium that allows being used as a multipurpose space with support/storage space. The surrounding empty space will be an extension of this, thus allowing its use for collaborative activities directed to the characteristics and interests of the residents. The third nucleus has a care office, two therapy offices, a nursing office, the staff seating area, and sanitary facilities for employees with access to reduced mobility with the respective showers, changing rooms and lockers.

Given the typology of the building, despite the need to fence the plot of land, we chose to do it with a hedgerow in vegetation (Eugenia myrtifolia) and a mesh (Pantanet Family type) between two feet of vegetation in order to create a more natural relationship with the public road. Because of its sandy terrain, we created a concrete platform to which the circulation between housing units and the main building may occur.

In formal terms, the framed structure used in the project as a whole, as an element common to the different spaces, allows the sensation of unity in the perceiving of it all, the exception being the housing modules. Thus, the range of materials is reduced, resulting in a low maintenance cost. The main structure is made of concrete, glass with fiberglass frames and a garden roof. Inside the main building and residences, linoleum flooring is used and the walls will be covered with oak paneling, allowing the spaces to be sensorially warmer.
