Project Description

ANPAR

Centro de Actividades Ocupacionais, proposed by the Associação ANPAR – Nacional de Pais e Amigos RETT.

For this project, it was essential to understand the specific needs of the people for whom it was intended. The maximum number of users defined by the promoting entity for the CAO building is 30 users.

The land does not have any vegetation issues, it has a variable and ascending slope in its south/north direction. We created rectangular platforms in order to overcome this slope. The implantation of the building was designed to allow an interconnection between the interior and exterior spaces. We also paid the necessary attention regarding sun exposure. It is intended to reforest the remaining land with native vegetation, so that users have a closer contact with nature.

There are two entrances, one for users and one for loading, unloading, services and employees. From the main entrance, you can access the main distribution hall, waiting area, and internal services (meeting room, management, secretary, accounting, treasury). Three offices, one of them dedicated to psychology, and other to social security and sanitary facilities for the service of employees.

From the distribution hall next to this entrance, on the opposite side, we find the reception and access the bar area, social and cafeteria, kitchen (with cooking circuit, plating, clean and dirty), storage (neutral and cold and exit, general pantry and storage, general garbage deposit with waste separation, laundry, changing rooms.

In the common areas, there is a Snoezelen indoor room, gymnasium, physiotherapy room and 3 activity rooms, as well as the respective sanitary facilities and support room for outdoor activities.

When it comes to the ventilation patios, these will be landscaped. The remaining land will be purposely left as it is to allow for reforestation and the creation of a small forest. A small vegetable garden will be created to support occupational activities. The strategy of reforestation of common spaces with native species recreating a wood-like area allows for large spaces that do not need intensive maintenance.
