The refurbishment of this seafront apartment in Póvoa de Varzim aimed to create a more open and dynamic space. Given the apartment’s long, narrow shape, our intention was to enhance the social areas and focus on the ocean view from the seventh-floor residence. To achieve this, we placed a grey mirror-lined box in the centre of the apartment, dividing the private and social areas. This box incorporates part of the kitchen. The empty space created serves as an entrance lobby, lounge, and dining area. A rough oak step marks the entrance to the private area, containing one room and a suite. The room has the ability to attach the sanitary service, and also operate it as a suite at night or in special situations. Oak flooring was installed in the private area, as opposed to the exposed concrete in the living room. In the kitchen, handmade tiles and a wooden countertop contrast with the industrial metallic doors.
